US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “has been arrested” this Tuesday by police officers for civil disobedience after a protest in favor of abortion outside the Supreme Court, according to her communication team through her social networks.
In the video, it is observed how a police officer escorts Ocasio-Cortez to leave the protest in Washington DC According to local media, other legislators were also removed from the demonstration. Among them, Nydia Velazquez, Carolyn Maloney, Jackie Speier and Bonnie Watson Coleman.
The Supreme Court of the United States repealed the right to abortion on June 24 in a severe setback to human rights in the country. A majority of six conservative justices overturned the precedent of Roe vs wadea ruling that made the voluntary termination of pregnancy constitutional.
